This Glossopedia is a compact glossary/mini-encyclopedia of words, phrases, and names, with nearly 1,500 entries comprising (with subentries) more than 1,625 individual terms, more than 950 illustrations, more than 190 patent citations linked to their respective patent documents at various archives, and extensive cross-references. Its specific focus, like my own, is fountain pens; but I am sufficiently distractible that some entries relating to ballpoint pens, mechanical pencils, etc., have inevitably crept in.In addition to defining jargon words and phrases, the Glossopedia also includes historical and usage notes. There are also brief histories of many pen companies and capsule biographies of some of the people who made important contributions to the advancement of fountain pen technology.

I read Richard's column in Pen World on a regular basis. He picks interesting subjects and wrirtes well. The collection of pictures is amazing. His book is published on smooth glosey paper and weighs more than you would think. More than a coffee table book, if you are a collecter it is most worthwhile. If like me, an accumalater, you will benefit even more. I go through books like this prior to going the show like the LAFPS anhd the WDCFPS. The biggest and best shows on each coast. The book preps me prior to the show which makes the show even more fun. You can meet Richard at the WDCFPS and get a great pen or a great pen adjusted. Having his book gives you an insite into Richard which works in his case. Have good and interesting read - i have.
