BOUND BY WAR was a spectacular book on so many fronts. If you lived through the trying times of the ‘60s, you will certainly remember the Vietnam War and how it affected you personally. Todd Lander’s book about his personal experiences has captured a look into the past that too many had to endure, the bonds that were forged in that foreign land, the families and loved ones left behind, and a deep faith in God that carried them through.I remember all too well seeing my friends and classmates enlist, be drafted and go off to a war in a foreign land that they, themselves could not have fathomed. They left as mere teenagers and returned matured beyond their years, scarred for life, physically, emotionally and psychologically. Few talked about their experiences, harboring their emotions and not wanting to remember what had happened while abroad. Those changes left many of us at home bewildered with no understanding of what they went through.Todd Lander has bravely and brilliantly shared with the reader his personal story, his descriptive account of the tumultuous and horrific year in ‘Nam. His writings wove into my memories a deeper understanding of the path endured by so many. This book moved my soul, my heart, and gave me such an immense feeling of gratitude for our Veterans. I will never see them as anything other than true Heroes. Thank you for your service Todd, and for sharing your story and memorializing your friends in such honorable way! Brilliantly written!
